Tales of Inathiel part 22

The Lycan's Defeat

Ambushed on their journey by a hunter named Falnon Gallagher, Inathiel and Christopher were forced to defend themselves against the man who soon turned out to be a werewolf in addition to being a dangerously skilled hunter.

While the vampire made it his mission to guard his mistress from the monster as well as he could, Inathiel herself was thinking of ways to defeat the enemy as he began to overpower Christopher.

To her frustration, neither she nor her servant had any of the weapons that work well against lycanthropes. However, she didn't let this stop her as she then decided to try a somewhat risky change of tactics.

Focusing on the power given by her devil heritage, Inathiel began to transform to her more monstrous form despite the pains and risks of this move. As the dark magic gathered around her, Falnon turned his attention from Christopher for a moment.

He then rushed at her as he saw an orb of crimson energy forming in her hand, a massive flame kept inside it. But before he managed to reach her, his vampiric opponent grabbed him from behind, having seen what Inathiel had been planning and sensing the energy wave.

Christopher thought to himself as his grip kept loosening due to the werewolf's strength, still trying to buy time for Inathiel. "She's planning to end this in one shot...I have to stop this beast from reaching her!!"

Just then, the werewolf turned back to him, slashing the vampire to shreds as his claws slashed through his torso and neck and knocking him down. As Inathiel saw this, her thoughts turned from corrupting malevolence to pure hatred as she launched her spell at Falnon.

But instead of shooting her enemy with a single blast, she began to barrage him with blasts of energy in her anger, cursing at him out loud. Though Christopher was unconscious, his vampiric body slowly began to regenerate while the battle continued.

Taking the blasts head-on, Falnon slowly continued walking up to Inathiel, trusting on his innate regeneration to keep him up as he prepared to rend his target to shreds. To his misfortune, the devil woman's blasts began to overpower him, stopping him and then pushing him back.

Growling in defiance, the man struggled to maintain his footing, only to have himself pushed back while his body began to take more damage than his regeneration managed to heal. "Damn it! You're better than I thought, woman!!"

The man suddenly shifted back to his human form, grinning as he saw his enemy feeling exhausted after her outburst of rage. He then took out his bow, taking aim at Inathiel's head with a silver arrow.

But as the arrow was fired, the woman managed to dodge it, though the arrow made a cut on her face which seemed to burn her skin as she flinched in pain. Inathiel responded to this by rushing at Falnon, stopping him from firing a second arrow as she slashed at his face.

Clawing the man, she rushed after him as he backed away, but soon stopped as she saw her enemy fall over, apparently unable to put up any more of a fight as he cursed his luck. "Damn it, for once I got a chance to go crazy, and now I'm half-way dead..."

While he waited for a finishing blow, the man laughed out loud, his cackling turning only louder as he saw Christopher getting up. "And now I even failed to kill a vampire! What next?"

Seeing what has happened, Inathiel suddenly held back, grinning a bit as her transformation began to reverse. As her vampire accomplice got up, she spoke out to her foe with a slightly bigger grin on her face.

"I have an idea of what happens next. I won't give you the privilege of being killed."
