Tales of Inathiel part 21

Falnon the Predator

With her business at the city of Haralgard finished, Inathiel began to make her way to the next location, summoning Christopher to his side as they once again ventured in the night, only to find that something was wrong as someone was following them.

Looking around, the two found nothing, only feeling chills running down their spines and the cold wind blowing in the dark of night. Finally, Christopher spread into a swarm of bats and flied upward to scout the area, only to find a lone wolf running around nearby.

Flying back down, the man changed back to his original form, speaking to his mistress in a calm tone. "It seemed that nobody is follo-" But his speech was cut short as an arrow suddenly shot through Inathiel's shoulder, causing her to fall over in pain.

Shocked, both Inathiel and Christopher turned to look at a man holding a bow in hand, having a sword ready to be drawn and grinning in a disturbing manner. Still confused about how the man had gotten to surprise them, they listened on as he spoke, his eyes glowing yellow in the dark.

"It seems that you two aren't as much a challenge as I first thought." Looking on to see that Inathiel was getting up, Christopher then turned his focus back to the hunter, who was now getting ready to fire a second arrow.

"Who the hell are you? And why are you here?" The man answered these questions while aiming at his main target, his arrow pointing towards Inathiel's head. "The name's Falnon Gallagher, and I've been hired to kill you both."

Hearing this and seeing the arrow flying at his mistress, Christopher jumped in the way, stopping the arrow as it struck through his chest. He then ripped it off, throwing it back at Falnon with amazing speed.

The man managed to dodge the attack, and then charged at the two of them with a grin on his face and his blade unsheathed. "I might be here to kill you, but I want to enjoy the thrill of this hunt!!"

But just as he was about to slash at the vampire with his sword, a blast of magical energy shot out from Inathiel's hands, knocking him back. The woman looked on as the man fell to the ground, streaks of red energy still crackling around the woman's hands.

To her surprise, the man didn't seem to flinch from pain, the wicked grin on his face widening a bit as he laughed and got up on his feet. "I can tell from that blast that I can't afford to hold back. Well, all the more fun for me..."

Confused by the man's seemingly mad rambling, the two looked on as he got up, his eyes suddenly turning yellow with slitted pupils while his body began to transform in an unusual manner.

As they looked on, claws and fangs formed on the man, and soon his body was covered in dark brown fur. The two then realized that this man was a werewolf, and that they had little to no ways of truly harming him as he tossed his sword aside.

Before they had a chance to say anything, the werewolf rushed at Inathiel at on all fours, but Christopher tackled him to the side, clawing at him in anger and keeping him from going after his mistress, who began to think about the situation.

"How can I stop him without silver? And if he really was prepared to kill us both, wouln't he carry any silver on him as well?" Just then, the vampire noticed the feral look on his opponent's face as he tore at him uncontrollably, neither of the two managing to get the upper hand.

While the two men were fighting, the woman began to focus upon her devilish power, doing so in haste as she saw Falnon beating Christopher down with his superior strength. "I have to do something...anything, to stop this guy!!"
