Of Demons, Angels and Cake
Noon had arrived in Finland as the sun had set in the middle of the sky. Though it seemed like any other day at first glance, something odd had happened in the local forest. Seemingly out of nowhere, a large house had landed in the woods from the skies above. The building itself was of a grey color, with a pair of black mismatched windows akin to an eye and an eyepatch marking the house on the outside while an eccentric laughter echoed on the inside.
Stepping out of the shadows as his laughter came to a halt, the owner of the building was revealed to be none other than CG, the "insane" inventor himself. Having landed his Contraporium near the city of Oulu, the young man looked at a note given to him yesterday. On it were the exact coordinates on where to land his flying house, as well as a request to be stay there for the next two hours. The note also had a commission for the construction of an odd raygun, with details of requirements and compensation.
Though the signature at the bottom of the note looked familiar, he couldn't quite recall the owner of it at first glance. While CG was busy with his work, Marie looked out the window, smiling at the view outside before turning her attention to him. "Still working on that raygun the customer asked for?" Nodding in response, the young man spoke out to her in response while his hands were busy tweaking the gun's inner circuitry. "Yeah. At least I've got something to do while we wait."
Turning back to look outside, the demon suddenly spotted a kit fox walking around in the woods. Having admired the forest surrounding the house for quite a while, Marie decided that going for a little walk wouldn't hurt, as long as she came back in time. Being busy with his work, CG failed to notice her sneaking off at first, the only sign he had gotten was the door suddenly closing behind him. As he turned around to look, the woman was already gone. "Marie?"
Frowning for a moment, he then grabbed his tools and continued, letting out a sigh as his thoughts were elsewhere. "I just hope she'll be back in time." Meanwhile, near the city of Kuopio a few hundred kilometers away, a white Saab Aero-X was driving towards the location of the Contraporium, marked on the driver's GPS. Sitting in the driver's seat was the vampire Lyriet, while her friends Annika and Nina were sitting in the back, leaving the passenger's seat empty.
The former was holding a map in hand while the latter had a black and white square-shaped package on her lap tied with red ribbons. Driving a bit more carefully for a moment, Lyriet took the time to look over her shoulder at Annika and asked her a question. "How far are we now? This non-stop driving for hours on end is getting a bit tedious." Scrambling with the map in hand, the young woman at the back looks at the signs on the road as they drive by before answering the question.
"At this rate, we'll be there in about three and a half hours. Oh shit, we're gonna be late!" Yelling for the woman to drive faster, the two fail to notice Nina holding on to the package a bit more tightly, her face in a worried frown. "Don't go too fast, please. We wouldn't want anything happening to this..." While the three continued on their way towards Oulu, Marie was taking a relaxing walk around the woods, admiring the wildlife and landscapes in spite of the somewhat cold weather.
"This place would be perfect if it weren't so cold." Looking around carefully in case any people were nearby, she soon left her human disguise and appeared in her demon form, letting the flames on her head burn bright and give her some extra warmth. "Much better." As she continued to walk, she took in all of her surroundings, from the birch trees, spruces and berry bushes to the wildlife seemingly unafraid of her natural form and looking at her from afar with curiosity.
As time went on, CG had managed to finish working on the raygun while waiting for Marie and the guests to arrive, inspecting it one last time for any external and internal flaws before aiming it at himself. "Looks like this one's finished. Now, to test it..." Getting hit by a green beam of light shot from the gun, the man was soon transformed, letting out a nervous laugh as he was soon to be referred to as a she instead. "...and I somehow forgot that this was an expansion gun."
Having longer hair reaching down slightly below her waist in length and blessed with generous curves, CG quickly checked if her clothes had survived the transformation intact. Seeing that only the shirt was a bit torn from the top, she then began setting the gun on reverse, only to hear a loud screech outside the house. "I hope that's the guests and not Marie knocking right now..." While she approached the door, Annika was standing on the other side, knocking on it while Lyriet and Nina stood behind her.
Soon, the door opened up and revealed the person behind it, surprising all three women as they step in. "Why didn't CG tell us he has a twin sister?" Explaining to the guests that she is indeed CG, the scientist lets the guests in while walking over to adjust the raygun again. "I need to change myself back to normal before Marie gets back. Just make yourselves at home while I do that, alright?" While the eccentric scientist rushed off to test the raygun, Nina began to unwrap the package she was carrying.
Inside was a Devil's food cake, probably baked by Nina herself for CG and Marie. While the angel started looking for something to slice the cake with, Lyriet and Annika began to take out gift boxes that they had been holding in the car. Back in the woods, Marie had realized that quite a lot of time had passed since she started walking as she saw the sun setting on the horizon. Checking again if anyone was following her, she then began making her way back towards the Contraporium.
"I wonder if CG accidentally scared all the locals off. Either way, the guests have probably arrived by now, so I need to hurry." Shifting from a light walking pace to a near-running jog, the woman soon made her way over to the front door, knocking on it a few times with a smile on her face. While Marie had made her way back to the location, CG had locked herself up in another room, still trying to change back to male form and becoming increasingly worried as she heard a knock on the door.
However, the raygun was fired once more and the scientist was soon back to normal, though he asked the guests to hold Marie off for a moment as he needed to change his clothes. As the door was opened, the demon noticed Annika standing on the other side, stepping inside after greeting the girl. "Am I late for the party?" The guests shaked their heads at this, and soon CG spoke out to them from another room, the door slamming shut behind them as the house itself shook and rumbled.
"Not at all, but we have to move to the next location. We still have more guests to pick up for this party!" The Contraporium soon began to rise up into the air, hovering towards next location with a steadily accelerating speed. "Next stop, Michigan!"
