Demon Lord Days: Elise

Night of Introspection

Elise Lindelle, the only angel to currently hold the title of demon lord, had spent the last few weeks attending diplomatic meetings with others who had the same title, only now taking time to relax and think over things. As the afternoon went on, the woman finished the last of her assignments while the legion of maids and servants working within the castle walls were finishing up their own chores for the day.

In a hallway located in the second floor, the demon maid Maria looked around before carrying on with sweeping dust and dirt away from the expensive red carpet going from one end of the hallway to the other. Her tail wagged from one side to the other, and she seemed to be thinking out loud as she spoke, aware of the fact that she was alone. "I hope Elise is okay...she hasn't even looked for me yet..."

Letting out a sigh while thinking about her mistress, the maid was not being at all subtle about her adoration towards the fallen angel herself. Much to her surprise, the target of her affections was now standing behind her, having overheard her speaking by herself as she walked over, surprising her servant by suddenly speaking out to her. "I'm surprised to hear that you missed me that much, Maria."

The demon lady turned around to look at her mistress with an embarassed expression, though she soon calmed down as she noticed the gentle smile on the angel's face and managed to give a reply. "Yeah, I actually kinda did. How have you been doing, mistress?" Elise explained to the maid about how busy the last two weeks had been before walking past her and into her own room, leaving her alone again.

Frowning a bit, Maria realized that her mistress hadn't even asked her about how she was doing. Letting out a sigh, the young woman continued doing her chores, while someone else had finished cleaning up the kitchen. This woman was Nina Eldridge, an old friend of Elise from Heaven and a fellow fallen angel, who had chosen to serve as a vassal for her friend after her ascension to demon lord status.

After thanking her colleagues for their help, the woman walked out of the kitchen and towards the next floor, encountering her friend Maria, who had finally finished cleaning the hallway she was assigned to though having a somewhat sad look on her face. "Is something wrong, Maria?" Hearing the question, the demon looked around for a moment to see if anyone was listening before explaining to her friend.

"I don't think Elise likes me as much as I like her." Confused by her friend's demeanour, Nina's face blushed a bit as Maria explained her true feelings towards Elise. The angel remained silent for a moment, but then asked an important question. "Have you told her about how you feel for her?" Shaking her head in response, the maid suddenly got an idea as a slight grin appeared replaced the frown on her face.

"I just got an idea..." Without a warning, Maria ran off, leaving Nina to wonder what her friend had in mind as she began to make her way to her own room. Time passed on as the people of the castle finished their work for today, and night soon followed. While most people were now asleep, the mischievous maid began to make her way towards Elise's bedroom, unaware of the fact that she was still awake.

The fallen angel lied on her bed while staring at the ceiling, thinking through her past and the current events unfolding around her as she sighed and leaned to the side. "Everything's gone well so far, but I keep worrying that something is going to happen soon. Malfer felt it too, but he wasn't paying any attention." Just then, the door slowly opened as Maria tried to sneak in only to notice her mistress looking at her.

While the demon quickly felt her face turn red from the sight and from embarassement, she quickly took a step forth while closing the door behind her before speaking out in a meek tone. "Elise, is everything okay?" After a moment, the angel responded while sitting up on the bed. "I was just thinking about things that have happened lately, and couldn't sleep. Shouldn't you also be in bed by now?"

Startled by the question, Maria quickly came up with an excuse while getting closer to the bed. "Well, I kinda had the same thing, but I was more worried about you than anything else. I mean, you seemed kinda distracted earlier today and all..." As she heard this, Elise's expression turned for a slightly more melancholic one as realized she that she didn't even ask how the maid was doing when they met at the hallway.

"I'm sorry, Maria. I'm still a bit exhausted from everything, but that's no excuse to be rude towards you." After a somewhat awkward moment of silence, the angel continued. "Anyway, is there anything else I can help you with?" Blushing even more than she had earlier, the demon maid soon walked over to sit on the bed, having difficulty speaking due to how nervous she was feeling at that moment.

"I just wondered if I could spend the night sleeping with you, if you don't mind the company." Deciding to let Maria sleep with her this one time, Elise soon felt the younger woman hugging her, causing her pale face to blush with a clear red color as the demon seemed to be deliberately pressing her head to the angel's chest. However, she soon calmed down and closed her eyes as she lied down. "Good night, Maria."

Smiling deviously while still hugging her mistress, the demon soon fell asleep with her while thinking about how tomorrow will go. "I hope Elise won't wriggle around too much in her sleep tonight. And I wonder if she will let me get closer to her in time." While the two slept, Nina was actually up writing on her diary about things she had heard from her two friends before she headed to bed. "Whatever is bothering Elise and Maria right now, I'll be ready to help them with it..."
